The National Postal Mail Handlers Union and all postal workers owe a debt of gratitude to Congressman Connolly. It is because of his work we saw the passage of the Postal Service Reform Act; support of preserving service standards; protecting postal employees’ earned health and retirement benefits; and, tending to the overall sustainability of the United States Postal Service.
He spoke to our national conventions and legislative conferences and was always eager to hear from our members and their experiences as Mail Handlers. He truly wanted to improve the Postal Service not only for its employees, but also its customers. We have lost a true friend and champion.
It’s a sad day for Mail Handlers across the country. On behalf of the National Postal Mail Handlers, I offer my deepest condolences to his wife Cathy, his dedicated staff, and to the people of Virginia’s Eleventh District.
