The Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan fact tank that serves in part to inform the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world recently conducted a public opinion poll rating— How Americans View Their Government.
When specifically asked to evaluate the performance of: federal agencies, Congress and the Supreme Court— the public expressed a generally favorable opinion with the majority giving favorable assessments of 13 of the 17 agencies and departments tested.
Most notable, the United States Postal Service was ranked as the most favorable federal agency with an 84% approval rating while only 14% expressed an unfavorable view of the agency. The top 5 rated agencies include the USPS, National Park Service, Center for Disease Control, NASA and the FBI.
The lowest rated agency is Congress, with 69% of those polled expressing an unfavorable view. The Pew Research Center reports that Congress has not surpassed a 30% favorable rating in more than four years.
